Our ambition in crafting this wine is to deliver the generous fruit of the Alexander Valley appellation with sufficient tannin to merit long-term aging while still maintaining approachability in its youth. This is achieved by utilizing a variety of small lot fermentations, traditional as well as modern winemaking strategies, and extensive trial blending. Our grower partners work diligently in the vineyards to assure optimal fruit ripeness and our winery team optimizes the potential of each individual wine parcel. All facets of production from barrel and yeast strain selection to fermentation temperature, duration of aging, frequency of racking, fining and bottling are customized to best suit the style of the wine. Blending is conducted in stages and the final blend is matured in specially selected American Oak barrels for 12 months before bottling then aged an additional 10 months in bottle before release.
