Geyser Peak Releases “Ground Breaking” Wine Trio

Print

“Applying a semantic twist to the notion that great wine is grounded in terroir, Geyser Peak’s latest high-end releases express a literal connection to the earth. Each is named to honor formations related to the geologic upheaval that created the Sonoma County winery’s namesake mountain. The stylish wines include two 2011 Alexander Valley blends—Tectonic Red Blend (69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot, 16% other red; $30) and Devil’s Inkstand (Cabernet with Petit Verdot, Malbec and Petite Syrah; $55)—and Pluto’s Fury, a 2012 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir ($36). The trio, as well as a premium Sauvignon Blanc, are the result of winemaker Ondine Chattan being given a green light by winery owner Accolade Wines to make a series of limited-production wines from Geyser Peak’s finest vineyard resources.”
